Happiness is a journey, not a destination.

And it got me to think. One huge reason to come out was to be happy and ultimately reach a happy place.
Contexualizing the quote with this process, is the process of coming out supposed to bring happiness rather than being in a state of out and proud?

I think happiness has to be the ultimate objective. If being out and proud looks as if it will help achieve happiness, then coming out is the thing to do. If it seems that being out will lead to unhappiness, then it's not a good idea to come out, IMO.
And of course there is also the possibility of being out to a select group of people who can keep a secret. Again, I think it's a question of whether it will promote one's happiness.
